I will be starting my 2nd IVF in about 2 weeks!! My 1st cycle, I took Lupron, Follistim and Repronex (intramuscular) and now I will be taking Lupron, Gonal F and Menupur and its subq. I was wondering if anyone can give me info on the new meds? Gonal F and Menupur? Side effects and differences between the meds? Thanks to those who respond!

I have never taken Gonal F, but I did take Menopur- the only bad thing I found about it is that the injections seemed to be more painful than with other meds.

With Gonal F & Lupron, I experienced mild headaches and towards the end of stim, I had "fluttering" in my lower belly like where the ovaries were. I guess that was the eggs growing. Side effects really depend on the person though. The Menupor does burn a bit when injected. Then the site always itched once I took the needle out. I think the faster you inject, the less of a burn!!! Hope this is enough. And its really not that big a deal. Just think about the outcome.

I've taken Lupron and Menopur. I did not have any side effects and I responded well to the meds. Everyone is different though. As long as your doctor gives you the correct dosage you should be fine. Good Luck!

I took menupur for my IUI and had no problems, no burning. I am using a generic form from europe for IVF and the difference is that I have to have it IM. GOOD LUCK!

I took Gonal-F for my third cycle. My RE told me that there was no difference between Gonal-F and Follistum. I didn't notice a difference between the two.

I did those three meds on my 2nd IVF. I noticed some hotflashes and mild headaches. I had no problems with the subq injections, just makes sure to ice 10 min. before the injection, rub afterwards, and then put a heating pad on for about 10 minutes. Good luck!
