I'm glad I'm in Canada though, as OHIP covers all of the basic tests (sperm checks, the blood work, ultrasounds and the hystereosalpingogram all covered) else I couldn't have afforded them all. In seeking answers though, I've only created more questions. My RE is the best there is to offer in my area, but since he also teaches at the local University, he's always seeming to be rushed.
He does IUI at his practice here, which is run out of the local hospital, but IVF will force me to go to Ottawa. My RE told me that until I manage to lose a lot of weight (get to a BMI under 35), I won't qualify for the IVF at the clinics he works with. The IUI he's willing to do, but prefers that I lose weight first. His intern seemed to be more understanding about the whole 'easier said than done' issue with weight loss. Hope is hard to come by these days, but I can see a glimmer of it on the horizon!
I started the Letrozole today and it's at least making the horrid progesterone pill induced cramping go away. My fingers are crossed that this at least makes me ovulate. Blood tests to be done to determine this on d24 (the 18th), which seems so far away.
OneDay2, I was classed as obese before I started my very first round of treatment, Clomid. Not only did it not work, but it caused me to gain 40 pounds over the 2 cycles I did of it! Now I'm classed as 'morbidly obese' which just adds to the depression and disgust I feel. :(
So far the Letrozole is only causing minimal weight gain, thankfully! I'm hoping to start bike riding soon (if I can get my darn tires fixed!) to increase the 'resistance' to weight gain!
