21 and infertile

I guess I’m not technically infertile because I’m not trying to get pregnant and wouldn’t have been for years to come, but I was looking into becoming an egg donor but the blood tests showed my AMH level to be 0.84 and my FSH level to be 12.6. Apparently these are numbers that are typical of 40+ year old women about to go through menopause, and I was recommended to think about getting my eggs frozen. I have an appointment with an OB/GYN to do more tests and follow up but I’m just so shocked. I can’t stop feeling how this is unfair, like the world is punishing me for trying to do a good thing and donate my eggs and turns out I’m infertile - what kind of irony is that? I’m single and young, and feel like there’s nobody I can talk to. I don’t have a partner who is going through this along with me, and all the other people I know are in their 20s like me aka can’t relate at all to this problem. I just feel so alone.

I'm so sorry. It's always rough to deal with even the idea of infertility but I'd imagine it'd be especially so at such a young age. Infertility is always unfair but especially at such a young age when so few of your peers have the same problem (or are at least unaware that they do),

I won't go on a diatribe about how you are so young and there's always hope but, I will tell you this....I've known a few people with early fertility problems and all of them have managed to get pregnant. Quite literally all of them. Including one that went through menopause in her late twenties and was told she's never get pregnant (ever), got pregnant by accident, was told that there was a 1% chance for a #2 WITH IVF, and still managed to get pregnant naturally again.

If the doctor recommends it and it would give you peace of mind then go ahead and freeze your eggs. Just know you aren't alone and you are actually in very good company and a lot of women both older than you AND your age (and younger) have been through what you're going through.

I'm so sorry. Believe it or not. I went through same except I didn't find out until I was 40 and first trying to get pregnant. After going to infertility clinic, and running all the tests that if I had wanted to get pregnant I would have had to have tried in my early 20's and even then they weren't sure because I went into early menopause. When they went to look at my eggs, I virtually had none and what I had wasnt good so basically donor egg which I can't afford is my only oprion at $30k. He said had you had frozen your eggs in your 20's, even though you were pretty menopausal then, you might have had a shot. Unfortunately for me, it's too late and I don't need to tell you the devastation I am feeling with all my friends not only having multiple kids but still getting pregnant at 40. I am literally running out of friends because mentally I can't handle. That being said....run don't walk on freezing your eggs. Just because your levels are low....there is still a good chance for you to have eggs. Run, don't walk. All I'm saying is the fact you found out this early, I wish I did!!!....I think you can have a good chance and maybe you were meant to find out now before it's too late. I believe every thing happens for a reason and maybe it was to spare you my story. You never know. On a flip side is I did have one friend who was menopausal at 26. After 7 years of trying everything. ...she did ivf donor and ironI call had 2 healthy twin boys that look like her. I wish I could afford that. I'm fostering. Bottom line , I'm only on this site 2 days and if your on here, then no life isn't fair but I truly think you are toO young to give up hope. Good luck and good bless!
