Hey ladies, after lots of prayer my DH and I have decided that if indeed we get a BFN this month, we will move on to our one and only IUI. Because we are only going to be doing one, I want to do everything I can to try to strengthen our odds. Any advice, words or wisdom, or tips from those of you who have been down this road would be great. Also, if any of you have gotten a BFP from your 1st IUI, please send me encouraging words! Thanks ladies!

I hope your IUI works. My SIL got her BFP on her first try.
I am doing my second IUI this month but both of these IUIs I am not on any meds,so my chances are lower.MY hopes are still high and I wont give up till I achieve my ultimate goal.
I was just wondering why only one try?

We are only doing one try because of the financial end of things- Our first IUI is only $285 because I don't need another ultrasound before we would start the Clomid, every IUI after that we are looking at $800- and that isn't practical right now, as my DH is on partial layoff right now because work is so slow- he is in construction. We don't want spend our savings right now and get ourselves in a financial bind, especially with odds of IUI's being so low and DH working less than 20 hours a week.

I hope that your IUI works! I am praying for you. Things that help with IUI success are serial ultrasound to monitor follicle growth and blood work to look for the surge. Sometimes, they will also give a trigger shot to also increase the odds of the ovulation occuring during IUI. Usually they do two IUIs per cycle (meaning they do two sperm injections on two separate days). Also, in the days after IUI my RE told us to do lots of BDing. Good luck.

I had a BFP on my first IUI. It can happen!

I was on 1000mg metformin, 150mg clomid days 5-9. Then triggered and did IUI the next day(don't remember which day those were, I think it depends on the person). Of course we were told to BD for a few days afterwards as well.

I'm almost 37 weeks with a little girl!

Wishing you lots of luck on your IUI. We did our first IUI last month and are preparing for our 2nd very soon. Relax and stay positive. Wishing you a BFP this month ;)
