Huge step tomorrow, having to call and make an appointment for my HSG test. Scared it won't work out with my work schedule and that I will have to wait another month. Was hoping I would have gotten pregnant this month and not had to do the test.

Little scared to have the test done, worried how painful it will be. I know this is the next right step but knowing also scares me a little in case there is a problem and what the next step will need to be. Just trying to think positive and hope for good news. Really want this test done and out of the way so I can move on with whatever needs to happen next good or bad.

Any other have it done, how painful was it? Was can I expect? Thanks.

My HSG wasn't too bad. It was more pressure than pain, and it was over really fast. Good luck!

The first time I had an HSG it went fine, like Halterbroke said it was more pressure than anything. That was when both of my tubes were open and there was no issue.

Not to scare you, but just so you are prepared...the second time I had an HSG was after my ectopic, and was when I found out that my remaining tube was blocked. There was a ton more pressure to the point that it was painful, and it made me really nauseous. The reason was because they kept trying to push more dye through to see if they could get the tube to open up. When they do that, if the tube isn't going to open then there isn't anywhere for the dye to go except into your blood vessels, and that can be painful. I was so nauseous, lightheaded, and turned so pale that they had me stay on the table and gave me juice before letting me get up. The nausea and feeling faint may have been more due to the result than the actual test though. Finding out my remaining tube was blocked was heartbreaking for me.

Both times I had a small amount of bleeding afterwards...but don't be alarmed by the dye that comes out right after, that isn't blood! I kind of freaked out the first time thinking that it was blood, LOL!

Thanks heatherttc, and you did not scare me its great to know. I did read a little about the lightheadedness that can happen. I think like you said that finding out that a tube is blocked is what scares me more. I know I need to know but part of me living in "denial" so to speak that nothing is wrong seems nice. I did read from other that the dye can open the tube, praying if it is blocked this is the case and it opens with ease. Time will tell one week away.

I know this will give me answers either way and we will know what are next step is.

I actually had my HSG today and was super nervous about it. I think I made it worse on myself, worrying about what it would be like, etc. The actual procedure was a lot better than I ever expected.. and that includes the doctor having to start over once I thought the worse was over! Haha. It wasn't bad at all.. It's almost just like getting a Pap with a little bit of pressure. He did say he had to force a little bit to get one tube to open, and I still didn't think it felt too bad. No pain for me and I hope the same for you. Good luck! Just keep in mind that it goes by fast and knowing the results are worth it. :)
