Infertility, Secondary Support Group
"Secondary infertility" is difficulty conceiving after already having conceived and carried a normal pregnancy. Apart from various medical conditions (e.g. hormonal), this may come as a result of age and stress felt to provide a sibling for their first child.

I don't know what my problem is here lately, but I feel like I'm getting worse and worse. I saw a specialist a few months ago, who just wanted to do test after test and gave me a diagnosis in his office, of something that I don't even have symptoms of - without any testing! I left there feeling sooo completely overwhelmed it's not even funny. I still haven't gone back for any of the testing. To be honest, I don't have the time for the fertility testing that he ordered for me and my cycles are too crazy to try to plan anything. I can't get off of work for everything that he wants me to have done, and that in itself is frustrating. And now I've been bleeding for a month, honestly. Started out just spotting, and then I got my period and have had that for approx. 2 weeks now...and it's STILL not done. I was thinking of just heading back to my OB/GYN and trying birth control pills for a while, to get my cycle back in order. Has anyone else had a similar problem and tried the same thing? I'm just so irregular anymore, and that's definitely not helping our baby making efforts. Also, bleeding for a month straight has really screwed up my mood and put me into a horrible PMS-like depression. I got so upset thinking about all of this earlier, that I just started crying out of no where on my way home from work today. I feel like I can't take one more day of this! I'm scared and fed-up and depressed and anxious. I get so frustrated! It feels good to get all of this out and talk to people who actually understand...thanks for letting me vent.

I'm sorry to hear about your messed up cycles. I can identify as I have been through similar over the last three years and am in the process of figuring out what it all means. I hope you can get some answers soon. I am seeking answers for closure-reasons as I have pretty much accepted that I am infertile. Having irregular cycles has messed with my moods also - I have felt positivlely crazy sometimes! Take care and vent anytime.

It takes so much time (off work) for fertility treatments! It's exhausting and expensive... but I would definitely try to take care of your month long bleeding. Take care of yourself! Hugs

I know how frustrating things can be and seem. Is there another specialist in your area that you could switch to? Maybe you would have a better re-pore than with the one you are seeing. I would also mention to the doctor that you need to get your cycles normalized and that is the number one concern... hang in there... make sure that you are doing something for yourself... it becomes so easy to get wrapped up in infertility that you forget about your life before it. Blessings to you.
