hahahaha. What world does he come from? My kids are 11, 8 and 6 and I have to remind them to brush their teeth and hair never mind cleaning up after themselves on theor own. As long as she cleans up when you ask her to I would not worry about it. Just try to have patience you'll have to remind her a lot.

my son is 2 1/2 and i made up a clean up songh when he was about 15 months... and we would put his toys away together. on his own? i think that might be a miracle, but asking him to do it with you... that is possible.

he also helps me clean his room, he helps me dust and vacuum (got him a vacuum cleaner for xmas) so even when i dust adn vacuum the rest of teh house he kind of helps me with that too... more dusting though than vacuuming.

to answer yoru question about whether you are a bad mom though - NO NO NO!

4 soon to be 5 year old boy's mom here and everyone else is right....coersion is definitely a neccesity at age 3.

If HE thinks you're so bad at "training" your daughter, why don't you let HIM teach her how to clean her room?

Thank you for all the comments! My husband "helps" her clean her room by yelling at her to do it. Then when she doesn't, he takes her toys away. I've been trying to make sure we put it all away before he gets home (she does it if I encourage her), just to avoid the bad vibes. Sheesh. Thanks for reassuring me, everyone. I think I'm a great mom!

In England that would be classed as child abuse to a child of that age , im really upset by this :( you poor lady , its spitefull bet he never cleaned up after his self at that age !!! i bet if you say he is being unfair it causes a argument too , your not a bad mom huni your a bloody good mom!!!!!!!! hugs to you huni bless ya xxx

I started to have him clean up his toys at 18 months. Granted we had to do it with him... and I sang a made-up song "clean up, clean up, it's time to help and do your share." and repeated it constantly while we cleaned up together. he will clean up sporadically if I ask him now (he is 3) but he will ALWAYS clean up if I help him. Give that a try. We talk a lot about responsibility with him... but you are BY FAR NOT a bad mother and shame on your DH for even saying something like that!
