My kids are teenagers and still do not pick up after themsleves. Keep calm and take a minute when you get furstrated.

My husband is 30 and STILL does not clean up after himself!!! LOL! If my 3 year old picked up after himself w/o me prompting him to, I'd be amazed! Next time he says something to you tell him to give it a try. Maybe he'll realize that it's not as easy as it seems!

Is your husband a clean freak or what?!?! NO kid is going to just simply clean up after themselves. My daughter will be 7 in August and has to be reminded all the time!! Then some days she gets into a mood and she "cleans" the entire house. Who knows why, but sometimes I wish she wouldn't because it makes more work for me at the end of the day, but I can't discourage it or then she may never clean again!!

It really bothers me that your husband would say that to you. I am so sorry, I know how that feels, my ex-husband was the same way-he always made little comments on me being a bad wife or mother because I did this or that. If you need to talk, I am here.

Thanks, guys! "Clean freak" is a good phrase to describe my husband. It has been hard, but he is good in so many other ways. Thanks for letting me vent here, & for the smiles!

no way!!!! they dont clean up at that age, generally speaking. thats not a reason to call you a bad mom!!!!!

none of my kids or husband have the urge to clean. i had my little ones follow me to clean up helping me help them and they followed along. After awhile I stopped and then of course, so did they. If you want the kids to help you have to follow them through it all and keep after it. easier said than done.

My husband is almost 38 and my son going on 12 and I still find their cloths on the floor in every room and empty cups on the counter and so on....NO 3 year old is going to clean, but you can start the learning process and make games with it, but they won't just pick up their cloths or put things away. He doesn't sound like he knows much about little ones, I hope he's ready to learn because your little girl will teach him! lol

my dd is 4 and i have her pick up her toys but thats it if she vulonteers clearing her plate cause she watchs me and my dh then praise but i would let kids be kids. shes to little to be stressed about being a neat freak.

My son is three. When I tell him to pick up he gets excited and sings clean up clean up everybody everywhere clean up clean up everybody do your share. Right now he thinks it is a game. One day he will realize it is work. hopefully later than sooner.

ps that doesn't make you a bad mom. Thats silly.

I try to play the clean up game and sing that silly song with my 19 month old and most of the time he just looks at me like I'm crazy. But sometimes he actually copies what I'm doing so you never know. You just have to be consistant so it's a pain in the neck. That's why it's just easier to do it yourself....

you dont have to make her a NEAT FREAK but it is not to early for her to help around the house if you make it enjoyable,, making bed,, sweeping,, even dusting or hanging clothes on hangers,,, you will more than likely have to redo eveything but it does make you're child more responsable for her actions later in life

Well I don't think your a bad mom at all... but... my little 2 yr old. I make him help me We sing a song and "cleanup" together.. He usually puts one thing or two things away but he understands to help! :)

My daughter is seven and when she was younger, I got her involved in cleaning by getting her a feather duster. (She thought it was magical) I'll have her pick up her stuff before I let her go around the house and dust. We still use the same trick. Also try getting her a kiddie vacum, and have her pick up b4 vacuming.(They Love That!) Good Luck.

My DD is 16 and she is a slob. I only have myself to blame. Her whole life I have done everything for her. I did not believe in doing chores. I used to think it was like slave labor-----making her help with everyday things. I REGRET not having her help. She now thinks that she is a princess. I do have to say that we bought her a brand new car for her 16th birthday and she really takes good care of it. She is great at taking care of her laptop and all her stuff like that but she has all very expensive clothes all over her bedroom floor. When/if I have another child I will make sure that they have chores
