yes i have taken xanex and i still do for sleep from time to time. I have never had any side effects after coming off it. I did notice the first few times i used it i was a little groggy but this passed.

Not me, but someone I knew said benzo withdrawal's pretty miserable.

yeah, I was on it a long time ago, and when I got off it I had to taper down. Try cutting each one you take in half, first. Take the half whenever you are supposed to take it. Then, after a week or 2, cut the halfs in half. When you get down to 1/4 a xanax when you're supposed to be taking them, you should be able to completely get off. If you end up needing it though, I suggest taking it. I'm back on it now b/c my symptoms came back. Best of luck to you!!!

I would think your doc is going to titrate down? - I was on xanax but when I was in the hospital they took me off. They said it was a good short term med and switched me to Klonopin.

No- I had no side effects. Express your concerns with your therapist. He/She would be better able to answer what to look for with side effects and hopefully help you not be so nervous. Everyone reacts differently to going on and off medication. Good luck.

Ohmygod, xanax! I abused it for 5 weeks, with copious amounts of alcohol. Landed in detox, and they had me off all medication within 3 days. it was extremely painful, and really acute anxiety. I was on a lot more than you though, and mixing it with alcohol. As long as your doctor goes very slowly with cutting it down, you should do a lot better than myself.

Xanax!My husband was severely addicted to it and had to detox It had made him switch into maniac episodes in which he spent incredible amounts of money compulsively buying gadgets.It is only recently that I understood the link between Xanax and compulsive buying.
I have heard many other similar cases since.

was on a very low dose of another benzo for a very long time.It saved my life i never got addicted to it and never changed the dose either in many year i took it.

It was prescribed for me to take every day but i only took it 3x a week about.

Benzs are not bad and can be very helpful if you do not abuse them....If you still need one i would highly recommend Tranxene.Is very mild.

I stopped taking it after 19 years and i did not have too much of a withdrawl.But then again i was taking it in very low dose and 3x a wekk about.
