So I recently found out the detective that involuntarily committed me November 7 of 2011 when I went to file charges on a man(who has a criminal record of domestic violence and child abuse)who also raped my child is related to the first man on my list of perpetrators I brought to the police station that same day.This detective actually hid this from her superior and when I confronted her with her superior in the room she sat there in silence with no way of defending her actions.This same detective also took my daughter into a room alone,interrogated her and told her she was lying about being molested before they brought her to the childrens advocate that same day. This effectively silenced her while she was at the childrens advocacy that day.My daughter has since completed another forensic interview with a completely different childrens advocacy where she disclosed everything about both the men who raped her.This corrupt detective also obstructed justice in the other case with my daughter which involves my brother(who is a registered sex offender) assaulting her.After I confronted her in front of her superior she sent all of my records to the detective in charge of the investigation in a completely different state claiming that I was a drug addict.It is sad but this is what survivors have to contend with when seeking justice to the wrongs that have been done to us.

What an awful situation you describe. This debacle is another reason some people just keep things to themselves instead of speaking up.
While the judicial system has come a long way, there is still a long way to go.

You said you disclosed all this to her superior - what action did the superior take?

Her supervisor told me she was going to switch mine and my daughters cases to state cases because with as many perpetrators I have had in my past they would always be a chance that the detectives in this polie department would know at least one of my perpetrators.It's been five months with no word from them despite the fact that everyone of the perpetrators on my list has a criminal record of abuse.Right now my lawyer is preparing a civil suit against this police department and I also want to persue obstruction of justice charges against this detective.The last time I checked it appears that she no longer works in law enforcement but this police department never told me that she was in fact fired for doing what she did to me and my daughter.They are trying to cover it up.

I married one of them; law enforcement; and yes indeed, they do so often have their own agenda. Too many get lost in the end justify's the means or lose focus that it is the innocent, they are to protect, and that applies to relatives.

Thank you Breaking.By far one of the worst aspects of mine and my daughters recovery has been the judicial system but in the end with the truth on our side we will prevail.

Every time i had a prob that i called the cops i feel like i was victimized by the caps again....

I can not believe he had you commited...You are alwyas so SANE....and bright...

Some of them are not the brightest people and also they are very narrow minded....They are not thta educated.

Thank you Unomas.It was a female detective that had me committed.She is related to the first man I name on my list of past perpetrators.I found this out a year later then confronted her captain about it. She has been fired but before she was fired she sent mine and my childs case records(a violation of the privacy act) to a detective in Texas working on a completely separate case with my daughter against my brother(who is a convicted sex offender).She also slandered my name to this detective stating that she believed I was a drug addict then when I confronted him and challeneged him to give me a drug test he shut up real quick.This detective in Texas has also been fired as well.We truly have to fight and never give up because we will always run in to abusers or enablers that work in the judicial system.The moment you see any sign that someone isn't doing there job correctly report it because most likely you have run in to an enabler. For me it is not good enough that these detectives got fired.I want them to face obstruction of justice charges for what they have done.My brother has two little girls living in his house that I am sure he is abusing and the other man has a wife that I have met.She is a completely battered woman.He also has a 12 year old daughter that I am positive he is abusing as well.These detectives should be held accountable for the abuse these people have had to endure because they refused to do their jobs.

Thank you Breaking.Here in America there are rape advocacy centers in every city but these advocacies although they are of tremendous help to sexual assault victims offer no help legally when someone is revictimized by the judicial system.At least that has been my experience and I have read studies showing revictimization rates of the judicial and medical systems to be as high as 87%. I think there needs to be an organization for sexual assault victims that has connections to lawyers that specialize in suing the judicial system for revictimization.
