Did anyone else get Styes when you were being abused?
I did. I was just wondering why. They can be caused
By not being clean. I am not sure but I don't remember
Being dirty. Unless he was letting go on my face or
I had it on my hand and rubbed my eyes (tears).

Wow. Did I just type that. How messed up is this.

Just thought I would ask.

No no Styes but I know exactly what you mean. Horrible though and horrible to have to live through.

Sending giant hugs you way from the UK where it happend to me on a nightly bases as a child and teenager.

Yes, it was hard to type...harder to think about. It seemed like everytime I had my school pics done I had a sty. It got me thinking.

I was also abused for years.

btw.....i'm in the US....my husband is from the UK. I imported him..lol

Thank you for posting this. I know revealing awful stuff is very hard and also relieves a lot of pain. I just read stys can be caused by rubbing eyes with unwashed hands so I think there is a link.

I had a lot of styes as a kid, also conjunctivitis and water infections a lot. When we are living in survival mode our immune systems are lowered and we are much more susceptible to infection and illness. I was a very sickly child with very healthy siblings. If you ever get the opportunity read "trauma, the body and transformation" by Kim Etherington. It helped me to understand how my body was affected and made me feel less like I was just a grubby kid...yeah... Big respect to you for being brave enough to make that post. The only thing that's messed up about it is that someone did that to you... There's nothing messed up about talking about it

Thank you for bringing up this topic! I was a very sickly child and never really thought about the possible correlation between the sexual abuse and the numerous illnesses I had. I learn so much from everyone in this group, so thank you for talking about it!!!!
