Ugh, that's awful. There is no logical explanation for why your cousin is still allowed in that house. It's absolutely absurd. It infuriates me when parents think it's okay for their child to continue to be around the abuser. It's something I have struggled to understand myself with my own family.

Dysfunctional families reply on each other to 'function" in their dysfunction.

One evil person in the family can not live if the others were not allowing him/her to.It works like a whole unit.That is why they say evil runs in families.....

And that is why sometimes the victim has to give up the whole family as long as everyone insists on staying "neutral".

There is NO neutral.Those who are not 100% on your side are on his.

I've had a similar problem. Only mine is my brother.
I think a lot of them are still dedicated to the idea that "Family stays together" but, there needs to be a LOT more respect for victims.
They even had the audacity to ask me why I won't let my daughter (Who is now the age I started being abused) around him. I think the answer is obvious....
Sometimes the only choice we get is to move away, even if it means we have to cut off or severely limit the time with family.
The closest "family" I have is my friends and the family I've made.
This site has helped a lot just having somewhere to go. I hope you can get away from this soon.
