I dealt with the abuse by my father 20 years ago. It is my Mother and sister's constant denial that is killing me. My Mother and Sister have chosen to make me the crazy my entire life about this. I accepted that about them and had a relationship with them up until 3 years ago. It seems my Mother and my Sister's denial runs so deep that when I got angry at them for bad mouthing me and my ex-husband to my children they turned on me in the worst possible way. They joined forces with my greedy ex-husband and made up abuse charges against me. They took me to family law court and lost thank god. However, they did considerable damage to my children. I have been dealing with the children for the past three years and haven't dealt with my feelings much. I am forced to deal with my past again. I now have PTSD and depression, full blown panic attacks. I am still working full time and trying to function without anyone at work or the kids knowing about my suffering. I was unable to take medication because I could not function at work or home.
I feel so unsure of myself and so out of control in my head that I fear I will lose my job and my kids in the process. My ex-husband and my Mother and Sister have now become great friends and are still trying to brainwash the kids against me. They managed to run off the one person in my life, my fianc. He hung in there for 1 year after the case was heard then he left because he was so afraid my Mother and Ex would go after him with abuse charges. My ex did tell me that next time they go to court they will get the kids to say that my fianc was molesting them, my ex went on to say that was your Mother's idea and laughed.
As I sit here and write my story it seems surreal I wish to God it was not true but it is. I don't know how I am still functioning.
. I am hoping to get some positive feedback so I can move on and live again. Not one day has passed in three years that I don't want to die. I can not afford therapy.

Upon his departure, he remarked, "I am in many people’s pockets; no one will believe you." Have you ever grappled with the silence that follows sexual assault, where the perceived impossibility of being believed necessitates self-censorship?

Your mother and sister you can cut out of your life, your ex-husband is harder as I assume he has parental rights. But I assume the kids live with you and they are not stupid. How you behave towards them will mean much more than what they hear their father telling them about you.
Lastly all I can say is that you are doing a fantastic job in the hardest of circumstances. I send you all the strength you need to keep going for yours and your kids' sakes.
Thank you for the great advice and for the strength I really needed that. I do believe that my children see the truth but they are just confused. One day when my children grow up they will look back and think I am a saint. That the thought that keeps me from losing it, I think.
How old are your kids? My older child is very intuitive and asks a lot of questions ... ultimately I have told her a small part of what happened with my grandfather to help her understand me. As for her father, she figured him out by his behavior. She has asked me for validation on what she has figured out. It has always been my policy to avoid negative talk about their father and to always be positive about him. It has been a challenge, but I have found ways to validate her intuition so she will learn to trust her instincts but also to focus on positive things that are true about her dad. My goal is to help her have compassion for her father when she identifies his flaws.
I encourage you to keep posting. You need support. Doing this alone for three years must have been exhausting. We are here for you.
If you are in the US there are various victim's assistance services around the country. I got free therapy through them because of the abuse I suffered as a child, even though I am a woman in my 50s. I was connected to them by calling the RAINN hotline number (https://ohl.rainn.org/online/), but I see there's also a website that might be able to connect you to a local organization: http://www.trynova.org/
Good luck and please keep coming back. We will support you!
