This is what I believe.The human heart and soul is beyond medication.You can zombiefy your body with medication until you are a walking complete dissociation but your inner pain will always be there until you work it out in therapy. With my disorder DID it is often misdiagnosed with schizophrenia.They will put a misdiagnosed patient on drugs to stop the voices but they do not work for long and the voices of the broken pieces of ones heart and soul come back screaming even louder.The only way to calm them is to talk to them and help them work out their pain.No medication will ever do that.Then we come to the powers that be.Large drug companies that have no interest in healing a person.Their only interest is to make money.So to keep you in limbo is to keep them in profits.In order to heal from inner pain you must have access to all of your emotions to process and grieve and by taking drugs that dissociate you from these emotions it hinders you from healing.I know many people feel overwhelmed by their emotions during their journey to healing and they turn to these drugs to help them cope but I would hope that they also know this downside of these drugs as well.

I take cymbalta and find it helps. It doesn't make all the pain go away but it does keep me alive.

I hear you about they system. I had a psychiatrist prescribe me prozac AFTER I told him it was the medication I found least effective.

Is there a med you had hoped to get? Perhaps we can help you find a way to communicate with your Dr. I think this is a very common problem you are having.

I had a wise friend mention adrenal fatigue to me when I was at my lowest point. Does the depression make you tired?

My Dr. was adding Abilify. To help with the horrible flashbacks and nightmares. I can feel my current meds not working. Th simplest thing can through me off and I am right back to feeling suicidel. Really wish I had more people then my Dr. and therapist. Oh and to add on top, my therpists lsat day was be in August now it is in July. Had having to switch every few months.

I only take Zoloft to help me fall asleep.I must say I have a tendency to react against taking medicine because my mother would use Temesta at night to escape from my father abusing me.She also drugged me.
This said, I have seen great improvement in my husband's health since he has found the right tratment;he used to auto medicate and take huge amounts of sleeping tablets and pain killers everyday to try and alleviate his terror and flash backs from extreme PTSD.
Together with EMDR which stirs him a lot emotionally, he has a new treatment which includes Prozac,Valium,Theralene and above all Zyprexa which seems to act wonders on him .
He says for the first time in his life, the anxiety and suicide impluses are much less.I can see it.Finding the right medication can really help.
I hope you find what is right for you.And do not stop the tratment on your own, the rebound effect is very hard.

I'm sorry your therapist is leaving. That is tough. It's not easy to find a therapist to connect with, in my experience.

When I was having flashbacks I also felt my med was useless. Flashbacks are so powerful! I ended up self-medicating during that time. I hope you find some much-needed support here.

Glad to hear meds are working for others. Not sure how things are going to go with new therapist. Trying to find one that is not an intern out of hospital. But everyone is booked already.
