In a bad place

I was in shock when my therapist told me yesterday we have only one visit left. She had told me she was seeing patients til end of July. I am going on vacation next week then she is on vacation for a week. (not upset about vacations) So when I come back I see her once then next week meet new intern with my therapist in the room, then done. I don't know if I can start telling my story over and over again.

We have been together for ten months. This will be my third intern. I am on a waiting list with a highly recommend therapist for September, but no guarntee. And to make it worse my wonderful Cat goofy. She jumped and hurt her . She is on pain meds and crying like crazy. My cat means everything I have been blessed t have her in my life for 18 years. Losing here would break my heart.

I feel you I had my last session with my therapist yesterday. I was with him for two years. Now I have to start with a new intern in July. This is my third intern it two and a half years. Now I have to bring the new intern up to speed. Who's helping who. It is tough to tell the whole story over and over again. I don't have a cat because I live in a shelter, but hopefully I will find a room or apt soon so I can get a companion to love. Hang in there your not alone

The system sucks to get in with a good permanent therapist is pulling teeth, know wants to get medicaid. I agree with you starting over is so hard. I finally felt I was getting some where with her and now I have to start over again. Just not sure I can do it anymore. It rips my heart out each time.

When you share such deep things with a person there is what is called cognitive dissonance.This basically states that by us sharing intimate things with a therapist our minds compensate by bonding us to them.It is a shame that therapist seem unwilling or unable to realize this. Maybe if they did they would not shuffle their patients off so easily.I'm sorry you guys have to keep re-establishing a trusting relationship with therapists.It is hard enough having to heal let alone having that factor to deal with also.

On the other hand, you are going to have a very good therapist from September.I had to wait one year with one I did not really like, but it was worth waiting.
it is painful having to tell one's story again and again but on the other hand, it helps cut through the denial to have to repeat it and to see somebody else's perspective can add new elements to one's story.If you do not feel you are progressing at the moment, you can also use your own workbook.Look in the recommendations on this board.

Proudaunt I'm sorry you have to go through this loss. I have had many therapists so I know it's hard but like moonface said it can give you new perspective and a new opportunity but just thinking of moving on from my therapist makes me sad. ((((Hug)))))

I get to deal with n00b psychiatrists ...New psychiatrists doing residency...and have both freaked and been freaked as far as the questions they ask.

Funny meeting a doc you want to refer to as such a nice young person...

I go to a place with a sliding-scale for my therapy, and pay out of pocket...$40 a week...which is certainly money I could use elsewhere...but well-spent where it is.
