I've had this happen too. It's like a voice whispers poison to me. I wonder if it's an old part of me lashing out in a moment of peace.

I have this happen too. No trigger, it just seemed to wash over me. My husband is actually the one who noticed the pattern and brought it to my attention. I am always "focusing" on something, weather it is actual work or the tv, a book, flipping thru a magazine, basicly nonproductive busy work. When I have nothing to keep my mind busy (which is not often) it hits me....depression or sometime I might even pick a fight with my husband. Then I am ok once I start doing something again.

This is something I too experience but, I like super power speed try to talk it away and if it works I need to as fast as it came in went get busy so it will stay away.

However if it doesn't work I am on the train I never express out loud what is happening I just suffer Alone . Receantly finding myself commpketly alone for the first time in my life and although it is very scary and incredibly lonley I NEED for me to grow and leave all the hurts and betrayals behind and surround myself with wonderful positive people and achieve REAL happiness .

Certainly there was a trigger, albeit subtle. I can see someone pose a smirk do something or give an expression and instantly I flash back to a moment where I saw the very same thing. It is much like smelling fresh baked bread and instantly going home, in your mind. Our senses are underrated and the burden we are left with is sorting and defining the past from the present. I try so hard to not have prejudices and preconcieved notions about people, but to this day I cannot say honestly that I don't stear clear of people with certain traits or behaviors. I detest unwarrented judgment, but I get scared and am too early in my recovery to risk another trauma. The difference if any is that I no longer carry that weight on MY shoulders and place it where it belongs, on my offenders while keeping it my responsibility on how I react.

Your right the trigger is probably that it's getting close to bed time. The same thing is happening tonight. I felt good all day. Now it's time to go to bed and I feel miserable. I took my night meds and soon I will be as leap for a few hours.

Each of you have described things that I too have felt at different times. Now, bipolar II and med.'s have helped with that. Though I can still feel it once in a while, my trigger is what I take as rejection by someone or when I feel abandoned. When I feel those two events, it would be very hard to control my emotions and I would crawl into myself.
My diagnosis has helped tremendously, in knowing how events so early and for so long, affected my brain chemistry . I vast majority of people who have done to them, as we have, need therapy and potentially medication. It can make a difference.

My trigger is feeling happy. As soon as things go well I feel bad. I have to punish myself for feeling good or happy or getting pleasure. I'm trying to combat it, but it is the hardest hardest thing.
