Hey everyone, I've been lurking for a couple weeks and decided today to post something.
I am a survivor of sexual abuse at the hands of my older brother (2.5 years old than me) it went on for a period of 7 years or so in my childhood. I finally put a stop to it in my early teens.
I've since struggled with anxiety, depression, PTSD symptoms (nightmares every night), and psychotic episodes on occasion. I feel the presence of the trauma every day, and recently its been too much to bear.
I've been in therapy for a few years, but my therapist has cancer now, and I won't see her again until (hopefully) she is finished treatment in the fall.
Tonight I went to my first SIA group and it wasn't what I expected... but I think it was helpful in that I met some people who have a lot of the same issues as I do.
I'm looking to reach out for some support, maybe make some friends, and help offer what I can to help others out in the same situation as me.

Manda, I'm so sorry to hear your story. Have you found the board to be helpful in putting your life together in some way?

I have been therapized for a loooong time...
This stuff is like an onion...there's a lot of layers, and a lot of crying involved in peeling the layers back.
