Feeling traumatized

I've just gotten my weight down to the same place it was in '95 when my uncle attacked me. I'm feeling smaller and more vulnerable and having old fear feelings.

Not sure how to feel more comfortable right now...

Hi dsf95- I'd suggest anything healthy that makes you feel more powerful... something along the lines of weight lifting to build muscle, and some self-defense classes.

Maybe get a guard dog. That helped me. I was uncomfortable around male dogs (still am), so I got a female dog.

I like both those ideas! I really loved to do martial arts until my health got too bad. I used to do Aikido, which is a very special martial art. The idea behind it is to not let anyone hurt you, and not hurt them too badly either. Mostly you use evasive action and throws. Any martial art will do, I just put that out there in case you have an aversion to violence.

I also love the idea of having a decent-sized dog. My dog (also female!) made me feel safe, and also very loved, kept me company, and forced me to get out and take long walks. I miss her a lot.
