There is no competition here for who had it worse than who. We can always find someone who is worse off, or better off, who is richer, who is poorer etc if we look.
Personally I like to hear from people who have had support from their family because it gives me faith of a better world. I like to read what you say - it gives me another perspective on things (and in the unlikely event that anyone doesn't like what you have to say, they don't have to read them).

Breakingtheshell you always know what to say. It is nice having support from my Mom. I also live with my Mother because of seziures, sometimes she smothers or forgets I am almost 41. But I know her heart is always in it. My sister is not very emotional she has only know for three years. We talked about it once and that was it but I know she cares. She keep things in like my Dad did. I have lost many friends who could not handle both the ptsd and the seizures. My only true friends all live in other states.I have only told my realtives on my Mom;s side. Not ready to get in a war with my Dad's side. As much as he knew I do not know what he told my Uncle.My cousins loved Nana and him greatly. I loved my Nana. Thanks for listening.

Of course you belong! I, too, have thought that what happened to me was less than others, but that's just my own minimisation, and it doesn't do any good to 'compare' there's no being able to judge another's circumstances fully. Sex abuse is sex abuse and it's all bad.

As far as anyone having it "worse" goes it's all a bunch of bull. We all deal with things based on our perspective and our experiences. When I was 11 I couldn't imagine anything worse about going to the doctor's then getting a shot or getting blood drawn. I hated it and it terrified me. I would put up a struggle every time. But just before school started for 6th grade, while my family was camping, I came down with the worst case of the flu that I've ever had. With a fever over 104, a severe headache and vomiting, my mom rushed me to the hospital. The doctors drew blood and I used most of my energy to resist it. Then, due to the symptoms, the doctors became concerned that I might have spinal menengitis, that's when I got my first real lesson on perspective. Despite the two shots of novacaine that were given, that spinal tap they gave me was more painful then them driving a hundred needles straight through my arm. Thankfully it was the flu and I recovered after a week. Between the blood draws, spinal tap, IVs and pain meds to keep my fever and headache in check I ended up getting stuck with needles 16 times in 3 days. I never complained about a blood draw or shot again. Just as long as they weren't heading for my spine.

I love you guys. You have no idea what support you are to me. At one point my therapist thought I should take a break from the site. Only because some of the things I was reading was triggering me. I lasted one week and came back. She agreed it was the right decision(hate that fact and i had to look up how to spell this word) ugh. Dam memory loss. any way Thanks again. nelliefay you are right we all try and minimues our abuse.

Just because your parents are understanding of your pain doesn't mean you weren't hurt by it. Sure, it's helpful to have support. We all wish we had it, but diminishing your experience won't help you any. Posting your experiences may in turn help someone who doesn't have family support. You're lucky to have a loving family, but that doesn't make what your grandfather did any less crappy.

Of course you belong. You still deal with the pain and the past on a daily basis like most of us. There is no way to rank who's pain was more extreem or what cases make up abuse and what is so minor as to not matter. It is all on the same level. Someone took something from you and this in my opinion is a way of taking it back.
