...a good book in layman's language describing or explaining the effects of childhood incest on the adult survivor? & that might also include the behavior of the perpetrator?
I am writing a memoir as a surivivor of incest (my grandfather molested me for 8 years (without penetration) from birth to age 8 when he died. I am just starting to talk to other female relatives (sister, cousins) who experienced the same from the same grandfather. We all have various problems/dysfunctions and I'd like to know if any or all of these are a direct result of incest abuse.
For instance, would I have been a battered wife, a member of a cult for 5 years, an overeater, co-dependent, etc., if I had not been molested? Or is that just fate?
Any books that might enlighten me on this subject I would appreciate hearing about. Thank you.

Upon his departure, he remarked, "I am in many people’s pockets; no one will believe you." Have you ever grappled with the silence that follows sexual assault, where the perceived impossibility of being believed necessitates self-censorship?
