Incest refers to any sexual activity between closely related persons that is illegal or socially taboo. Consensual adult incest is very rare. Incest between adults and prepubescent or adolescent children is a form of child sexual abuse that has been shown to be one of the most extreme forms of childhood trauma. Please - do whatever you have to do to find a therapist who you can work with. Don't wait to have a third breakdown. There are no credits in this world for suffering.
Any boundary violation, whether rape or not, is going to injure our sense of security and safety. I think analyzing or obsessing on what happens and how we react to those things can help us get in touch with feelings we have pushed down, and I spend a lot of time on that too.
The other day I surprised myself by getting totally angry about something that I thought I had dealt with. I realized that I had decided I should not be upset about this thing so I never really felt the feelings - but while obsessing etc the feelings I had ignored and not even realized ever had existed regarding this one incident that "was not such a big deal" just swept over me.
So I think a therapist who is good would help you process your feelings so you don't ignore them - i do think we act out more and have worse consequences when we ignore our feelings.
take care of yourself -
You are not 'over sensitive' - how you feel is how you feel. It is quite possible that these comments were not intended as criticisms, but instead were clumsy attempts to get you to look at something in a different way (eg. her daughter is also heavy, but she loves her anyway so it doesn't matter). However Incest survivors are extremely sensitive (note: not 'over' sensitive) because our survival has depended on it and can ferret out a criticism from the most expansive compliment (I can anyway). The therapist should know this and take it into account in any comments they make. If they don't then trust just isn't going to grow.
A book that I've found really helpful is 'The Highly Sensitive Person' by Elaine Aron (?). It helped me to see that being sensitive wasn't wrong, but also showed me ways to help cope in a largely insensitive world.
