I refuse to let my past define me
But one of the hardest things
Is trying to find that sense of worth
That sense of security
I want to be free from this curse
That the devil has put on me
I want to know that i'm worth
More than the body you see
The pain and abuse
Has left physical scars
My body has been used
And my worth seems so far
How could someone love
A body that tells a story
Written in my skin
I feel like i'm not worthy
To be held and loved
To be spoiled and kissed
To hear the words your beautiful
And to be worth more than sex
I feel like i'm worthy
At least a part of me does
But how will i ever know
If no one can love
The woman who never learned her worth

I struggle with the same thing. It is such a battle finding my sense of worth. I struggle with it daily...minute by minute. Where is it? I wish I knew.
I wish I could put together my thoughts as eloquently as you have in this poem. You are a very talented writer. I love your last stanza...I want that too. I think we all want that so much....but my complete lack of self-worth keeps me from reaching out for it.
