Tonight was the most honest and intense therapy session I ever had. We talked about how my mother wanted a girl and my father wanted a boy and I don't think either got what they wanted. Talked about my substance abuse and my suicide attempts. Also talked about the female neighbor that sexually abused me when I was 12 and she was in her 20s in front of my mother. Intense is way too mild a word. It was good to really open up, but I am completely drained.

I'm glad it felt good to really open up. Yes, it's draining but it's one step closer to getting to a better place. Best to you.

It does feel good to open up. I opened up more to my therapist the other day. It terrified me. She mentioned my fidgeting and anxiety and how just one mention about abuse of any kind brings it about, or even of my parents or uncle. It's terrifying during, but relieving afterwards.

It does feel cathartic, but I'm also very nervous about it. We covered a lot of ground and it went by so fast. Medication appointment next week, I'm nervous about that too. I don't know why I've been there before, a few times.

That is so good. It's no wonder you feel drained. Now take it easy for a bit. Let yourself recover and let things settle down. After sessions like that I generally need to avoid people for a day or so and just fill time with empty stuff. If I don't I get sick.

I so wish I could, but I have to go to work. I may have to work all weekend also. It was like washing out the poison. Too bad one washing won't get me clean, but I was dirtied over many years. Thank you so much for caring, it helps and means so much to me.

OK do what you have to - go to work, eat. Then spend any other time sitting and listening to music or, better still, play some.

You just brought a smile to my face, because you stood up and for you! Good job! I would do a happy dance for you, but my calv muscle is still broken..LOL.

Breakiingtheshell I hope to take Monday off, go somewhere I haven't decided where and do something with my grandaughter, my son and my daughter in law. Wednesday I also plan to take off and rest and relax in the morning. I have an appointment in the early afternoon then maybe I can play one of my instruments. Its good to have a lot of work to do, but I get burned out with all the work in therapy I'm doing also. My schedule is crazy right now. I have an Al-Anon meeting tonight and it's my turn to be greeter.

there were only a few defining moments in my story and one was the first time i opened up in group about my abuse. i am still amazed at how liberating it was. It was an incredible first step.
