Hi Everyone! I am new to the group and have been reading your posts and when I read some of them I feel like I am reading about my life. My husband was diagnosed with a thyroid disorder and has been taking depression medicine. Well he has no interest in me or sex. He swears it is because of the medication and that he has no sex drive, but it just is tearing me apart. I have never felt so unwanted and disgusting. I have gained a lot of weight due to being on medication and I am working hard to losing it and I cannot help but feel that he is lying. I have tried everything to turn my husband on and nothing works. He gets mad at me for telling him how I feel and says I am causing him anxiety. I am so glad that I am not alone and there are other people going through the same thing. In a way it makes me feel better that I am not alone.

Hi, and welcome to the group! I'm sorry that you're going through these issues in your marriage. I understand how it is gaining weight and feeling unattractive to your husband; we females can be very hard on ourselves in the looks dept. Why do you think he's lying; could it be that you're projecting your feelings of being unattractive onto him? Or is he prone to lying? Do you think he's doing it to spare your feelings? Really, you don't have to answer, the questions--they are just to make your think. Are you supporting him in his thyroid condition, and the depression? Depression is hard for the person themselves to go through, so you may indeed be causing him anxiety on top of the other two things, though not intentionally. I encourage you to help him through what he's going through (you would expect the same from him), and then when he's more stable, then perhaps share your feelings about things.

I do know that one of the symptoms of depression meds is a loss of interest in sexual activity. This very well could be the reason he's acting the way he is, and not necessarily it being you personally. If he's dealing with both issues, AND the symptoms of meds, it's understandable that he is getting upset. Try to be sensitive to him right now; he may need a little extra space, encouragement, and attention. I really don't mean to be insensitive to your feelings, because they are very important!!
