Impotence & Erectile Dysfunction Support Group
Erectile dysfunction or impotence is a sexual dysfunction characterized by the inability to develop or maintain an erection of the penis for satisfactory sexual intercourse regardless of the capability of ejaculation. There are various underlying causes, such as diabetes, many of which are medically reversible. The causes may be physiological or psychological.
Since you want to talk about your situation, how do you want to start that conversation?
I must stress that the problem was mine, not hers, and now she feels rejected and humiliated by my response. I have really messed up. Who can you talk to professionally about these things? Are they called Psychosexual therapists? I have no idea if such things exist in Portugal.
We are all here for you. We all suffer from impotence or mild impotence and are constantly seeking others for advice and for someone to just plain out talk too. So please feel comfortable to open up.
I've been impotent for almost 5 years now due to my Diabetes Type 2. It has and will be a struggle for me for i'm sure the rest of my life. However, we find what works best for us, and thank the guy above for another day of life.
Not everything works for everybody and we have our up's, and downs about everything as well.
One thing you should do is talk to your doctor to find out what it is in particular that is causing your impotence. In almost every case of impotence there is an underlying cause. If you are unsure about what doctor to visit then go to your general practitioner, he will be able to refer you to someone who can help.
If you need someone to talk to you can feel free to ask anything or talk to me through private message or in this thread!
God Bless!
I understand what it's like to have the impotence problems you're experiencing.
Here are my main thoughts/suggestions. The more quickly you move to take appropriate action, the faster you'll understand what the problem is and how to handle it both physically and psychologically.
1. The first thing I recommend you do is see your doctor immediately. Most impotence problems have a physiological component or cause. In your case, you believe beta blockers are likely causing the problem. Specifically, I recommend that you see and talk openly to the doctor who prescribed the beta blockers.
2. Since you're very aware of the psychological and emotional problems you're having as a result of suffering from impotence the past several months, it makes sense to see a good therapist.
Your medical doctor may be able to refer you to a good therapist who works with men suffering from impotence. If not, you could ask the doctor how he/she recommends that you find a good therapist to talk to. You'll likely find an appropriate therapist by talking to your doctor. Most medical doctors have had a lot of patients who suffer from ED. This would be nothing new or unusual for them.
If for some reason your doctor can't help you find a good therapist, you can search online for therapists in your part of Portugal. You can see which ones specialize or work with people suffering from ED. Even before your first appointment with a therapist, you should be able to talk to him/her by phone and ask questions to make sure you feel comfortable with their experience working with clients with ED.
3. I suggest you send me a message. We can communicate that way in more detail.
What you do is up to you, of course. I strongly recommend that you talk to your medical doctor right away.
Keep your head up and try your hardest. No one can fault you for that.
I think people above have absoluttly right - go and talk to Your doctor. I heard that recently medicine got some new weapons in fight withED so it wouldn't harm if you get to know why you have such problems.
