My doctor told me to go ahead and get the flu shot. He said it or may not protect me from getting the flu, but it wouldn't be as bad if did get it. I was told not to get the flu mist though because it contains a live virus.

Always get the flu shot. It can't hurt and may help

I don't know but the pneumonia vaccine was totally ineffective.

I had the same experience with the newer pneumonia vaccine that I got a year ago. I came down with pneumonia this May. When my doctor tested me it showed that I hardly had any antibodies for pneumonia, so ended-up getting another pneumonia vaccine this summer. I had my first IVIG treatment a week ago. The doctor has written me an order for 5 more IVIG treatments, so I am hoping I do better this cold/flu season.

Every time I get the flu shot I get sick, this may just be me but I'm not sure that's why I joined this forum today. My iga level is below 5, I get sick every time for long periods of time.

I get sick whether or not I get the flu shot but my doc tells me that getting the shot/vaccine may help build immunity for future flu seasons.

I have never taken a flu shot and never will unless they force me to. I've read too many that took the flu shots that got the flu. I stay away from all vaccines and I know that is heavily debated so I am not telling anyone else to not take them but I am saying I wouldn't take them :) A lot of people will tell people to get meds or vaccines. I wouldn't want that on me if I told someone to take them and then they had an allergic reaction.
