Hi! I'm new here and it sure is "nice" to hear that other people have the same issues that I do! Not that there is anything "nice" about this IBS...I'm the same same as you - I'd rather not risk it...

yes I tend not to et if I am going anywhere,but I bought a reaslly good toilet trailor...(a trailor with a toilet ) in for going on a long distance journey..means you can get out without the anxiety of WHERE IS THE TOILET...sadly my ex fiance broke it off 11 weeks ago ..so now not in use,am now thinking of selling it grrrrrrrrr

I do it sometimes, but no much. I have a very fast matabalism, so I need to eat something or else my crazy stomach will start growling( and let me tell you...it's loud! ), but you're right, it's neccesary sometimes to enjoy yourself and do the things you need to do.

I feel your pain. I recently took a trip to Philadelphia to visit my sister and her new baby. I was there for three days and starved myself because I was terrified to eat. When ever anyone would want to go out to eat I would try to talk my way out of it. I did finally go out for Italian with my family the last day I was there and everyone looked at me like I was crazy because all I ate was dry bread, water and a little bit of pasta. Even though my mother and sister have IBS as well they do not have it to the same extent as I do, so they have no problems going out to eat and enjoying themselves.

I also starve myself...although you couldnt tell by my weight. It just seems unless its chamomile tea and Bran cereal im in pain. I'm starting to become a vegitarein because meat kills me. My meds were working for a while but now im back to starving myself just so I can be normal.
It's so hard...i just want it to end.

COMES AND GOES.I TAKE ALOT OF MEDCINE,BUT WORRY AND STRESS PLAY A BIG PART IN IT.EVEN IF I DON'T EAT!IT'S ENBASSERING,BUT OUR FRIENDS KNOW MY PROBLEM AND ARE VERY UNDERSTANDING.I GOT IBS WHEN I WAS MARRIED TO MY FIRST HUSBAND AND HE PUT ME THRU ALOT OF STRESS.HE NEVER UNDER STOOD

me too because of the pain everytime i take anything in even water i am now scared to eat.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the group, and its really nice to know I'm not alone.
I can completely relate to not eating out of fear, it's really frustrating. I get hungry, but I know that if I eat my stomach will really hurt and I might have to rush to the ladies. It's like you can't win, coz if I don't eat, my stomach hurts, but I dont have to use the toilet, and if I do eat the hunger pains go away, but then I get painful gas and digestive pains.
Its the not knowing thats the worst for me, its so unpredictable.

I do pretty good but one soda or chocolate or ANYTHING fried will kill my stomach.This last time I had a diaphramatic spasm.That was scary.I have spasms from my esophogus to bowels.Work doesn't. Understand.They don't know how painfully and dibilitaing this can be.And I work at a hospital.

Thats exactttllyyyyyy what i do ..the problem is when there is a non planed outing and i already eat and have some pain ..here i prefer to lose the fun and stay at home and not to see people better then be embarrassed or feel pain while i am with peolpe ..too complicated :S

no need to starve...but we did find that lettuce is one of the most hardest foods to digest with IBS

I am new with. BUT I know I hate it! I'm afraid to go anywhere. I feel like my life is over. I cry a lot. I see my family are all out doing what they want and not have to worry. Very depressing. You would think there would be pill out there for us to stop this as long as we take the pill. How do you all get through this. My family thinks if I would focusing on this, I wouldn't have it as much.
