Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and this group but I could use the support more then anything right now. I have been dealing with ibs since I was 2, but wasn't given a proper diagnosis until I was 21, I'm now 22. So you see my frustration. I had Dr.s tell me it was all in my head for years and finally after one of MANY trips to the ER I was given the right meds to help me. They gave me Bentyl and Carefate. I am suppose to take them 4 times a day with a meal. They were helping for a while but since being put on antibiotic for MRSA again, it is starting to act up.
I don't have a job because I can't be reliable enough considering I have to work around how I am feeling that day, I don't like to leave the house because as soon as I get in the car it hurts and I'm scared to be away from my bathroom. I do have a really understanding and supportive husband, but sometimes I feel like a broken record because day after day it always the same.
How do I cope and how do I get my life back? I have a Dr. appt on the 12th. What should I ask and what tests should I ask for? Any advice or support is more then welcome.
Thanks everyone!!!

I have had a colon oscopy twice! I feel like doctors always tell everyone it's in their head. I have a really supportive and kind doctor though nothing she has prescribed is working! I even told her I was wondering if going gluten free would be of some help. Yesterday before work my body had that kind of anxiety that seems connected to the bowels. Your body is anxious because you ahve to go and even during and after. I was scared because I couldn't stop going to the bathroom and ended up late for work! Luckily for me my body doesn't feel comfortable enough to go to the bathroom at work. If I am really in pain then i'll just tell myself the heck with it but in almost two years I have worked at my job I havent done that once! I had peed consistently after bowel movement yesterday too. That was one of my worst days with ibs because of the pain and then bleeding. I was scared that one can wipe and feel done and some how something keeps coming out in the paper. I was wondering if maybe it has to do with anxiety? Anyway I have a supportive boyfriend also. He feels bad for me that I have alot of pain and all I am diagnosed with is havin IBS. Don't feel I am getting any real help you know? I hear you!! I have been going many times a day since I was 14 after being sick! It was some stomach bug or something and that seemed to lead to IBS. Mine could have been due to stress like alot! It's not all in our head. It stays in our head and becomes an obsession almost because of the consistent worrying of wanting to be close to home to use the toilet. I prefer using my own toilet so I am like you in the way I don't like going out anywhere. I am soo sorry you are struggling too. I often feel alone when I have so much pain inside: burning, even abdnominal cramps and pain, and sooo ridiculous when nothing seems to work! I would ask the gastrointestinal doctor about colon oscopy and other tests they recommend. I did the bacterial over growth and everything normal. I feel like I must have all bad bacteria! It's quite ridiculous! I will pray for us both...
