Hi all.. I dont at this stage know what topick I can put here as Im just new. C Could any one please tell me about this group what it does what its aims are & what folk can say on it ect please. Maybe if you all read my profile & jurnals you may find some examples hthere not just for me to put but for any one. You are more than welcome to do that. The main reason for my jurnals & profile being there is to help others. They state the heel I have gone through & am still doing so but also how I have managed to cary on & how I still am. The aim is to encourage others to do the same , I know they may not be able to use thae same methods I did & do ect but what ever relevent & positive way they can. It does not have to g hapen tomorrw or as they say yesterday but in their own time. Folk can let me know how it is helping them. Every one can feel free to mesage me & chat live. I havent read your journal but this group is about hearing loss later in life something you wernt borrn with but if you can help us in anyway pls maybe we can help you to we are all pretty good family.

well, it's a good thing this isn't just a deaf group because I would have to leave if that was the case! lol, Would y'all think I was really weird if I told you that there are times when I actually wish I was deaf? There are a lot of things I would miss if I couldn't hear anything. And I do miss a lot of what is said now because my hearing isn't as good as it should be, but at times, I would prefer not to hear anything. I won't go into any detail now, I would be typing all night long.

Wld you beleive there are times I can hear a pin drop? Have a migrain and see how good your hearing gets. That isnt fair go thru life with bad hearing only to get a bad headache and can hear???

I understand deb, WHEN i USED TO SMOKE CIGARRETES i HAD OCCASIONAL TIMES i COULD SMELL THINGS, NOW THAT i QUIT SMOKIN i DON'T SMELL MUCH OF ANYTHING.

I can't smell much of anything any more either Cowboy. I used to never have to set a timer when I was cooking because I could tell by the smell if it was done or needed to be stirred or whatever. But now I can't smell a thing unless it's completely burnt. Or I'll smell weird stuff like beer, or popcorn and there is none in the house at all. The other day I thought I smelled Hawaiian Baked Ham cooking, but when I went to the kitchen to see what she was up to, Janet was fixing herself some Lasagna. lol the only time I can smell anything real is when I help Mom use the toilet! EWW! I smell that just fine.

Wow! Great topic's from not hearing well to our sense of smell..LOL
With my hearing loss, I miss out on lot's of things, such as people, and TV programs which sometime is a blessing. But let a baby cry, a child calling for their parent (Mom) plus sirens from ambulance, police cars, I can here very well. My dear beloved hubby will say; "you can hear what you want to hear," Since I've quit smoking cigarettes nine years ago, I can smell everything from good to bad. LOL

That is what the group started out for was late deafend adults but somewhere we all become friends and talk about the deaf but anything else also! Welcome back maybe we shld send him and invite.
