Hi Besler! I had my LAVH on July 30th and I have activity/weight restrictions. I cannot lift anything over 5 lbs. Weeks 1-3: TAKE IT EASY (it is in caps and is underlined). Avoid climbing stairs, stooping, lifting and driving. Can take a shower and wash hair. Get plenty of rest, including naps when tired. Week 4: If no complications (fever, dizziness, pain or abdominal belleding) you can drive and take very brief outings. Tub baths are acceptable, but NOT bubble baths. Weeks 5 & 6: Avoid strenuous activity, but resume light activities. Do not put anything in your vagina (including sex) until after your 4 week post op visit. You may resume swimming. If you are planning to resume going to work, the standard disability period after this type of major surgery is 6 weeks from the day of surgery.

I typed this verbatim from my discharge instructions. I know that doctor's may differ a little, but yours seems unrealistic!!! I honestly do not see how in the world you can go back that soon and be expected to perform to 100% of your job requirements! I would call the office and talk to his nurse! Maybe he was drunk when he wrote your instructions. Let me know how things work out! I do not have the pain you are referring to. It sounds dreadful!! have you been lifting things? Maybe it is just tender in there from overdoing it? Feel better soon and get plenty of rest! I would also call the office and tell them about the pain you are experiencing.

Did you get an exam when you went in to see your Dr? this is the only way to tell if you are healing good. I was out for 8 weeks but I also had the hardest of hysterectomys...abdominal and ovarys removed. My sister in law had a LAVH and she was back to work about 3 weeks later and she did heavy lifting as well. Eachwoman is different though and you need to talk with your Dr if you are not ready. Your body will tell you. As for the sharp pains I know I had them for some time post op. Have you talked with your Dr about it? Remeber you are your own advocate and you have to stand your ground. let me know how things go...I would say call your Dr and talk with the nurse and let her know how you feel! they will get back with you...Take care..Staci

Hey thanks guys, i suspected as much, i know i was shocked when i read the note and unfortunately didnt notice the error before i left his office. i am going to call his nurse right now...it has now been almost 2 weeks since mys surgery and i barely feel like going to work much less lifting people that weigh anywhere from 140lbs to about 225!!! Haha hopeful he may very well have been drunk!!!

also he never scheduled me for a 4 week or 6 week post op checkup what in the world?

well i called and talked to his nurse and yes it was a mistake i will be going to work on the 10th and on 30lb weight restrictions till the 22nd phew thats a great weight off my shoulders!
