Hysterectomy Support Group
A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually done by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial (also called supra-cervical). Although there are conservative alternatives, hysterectomy is performed for uterine fibroids, pelvic pain, pelvic relaxation, heavy or abnormal menstrual bleeding, and cancer.
I'm new to this site, too. I had my hysterectomy this past Dec. I have both friends and family pregnant during my time of trying to conceive with my husband and now When I can't. The Dr found cancer cells in my uterus and had no choice. I never had a child nor will I ever. I found myself drawing away from my family and friends that are pregnant. I unfollow them on social media because it's to hard to see women that I love pregnant.
As for as feeling less of a woman, yes... I do.
I try to pamper myself with a cute outfit or a mani pedi. Its been 9 months and I have been feeling sad and angry over my situation. I hope for your sake since you do have children in your life that you know how precise they are and know that you are not alone and just because a body part is no longer there you ARE still woman.
Take care of yourself and good luck...
I wanted to say I'm so sorry about your situation . The fact that u will never be able to bear your own is already worse than my situation . I feel so much of your heartache and emptiness but I promise u it gets better . I know I only had your feeling for ten years while trying to conceive and everyone telling me I can't but u will have these feelings your whole life so I send u hugs and I hope maybe u find a great therapist to help u and stay on here there are great people here . I will pray for u and remember there is always to sides to a story it might also help to surround yourself with people who don't want children and keep an open mind to them . I know that helped ( a little) anyhow k.i.t please and god bless
This is hard and some days it's harder to breathe and have a fake smile for work or even for your loved one's not to see you pain. There are so many others with their problems and I just keep to myself because I rather help them. I feel I'm drowning and I reached out to this site. I now found you.
Someone who understands my frustration, hurt, sadness, anger, and disappointment is very comforting.
I hope to keep in touch with you...
How are you today?
I only have one biological 28 year old daughter that stopped talking to me almost 2 years ago. I married my 2nd husband 13 years ago and regret not having children with him but when i met him he immediately had a vasectomy because he had 2 sons and this told me he did not want children.
I am a loner as well, we moved from a beautiful intimate town to a big cold city and its been hard for me. Im glad we have this board and each other to talk to.
Keep well.
