Hysterectomy Support Group
A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually done by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial (also called supra-cervical). Although there are conservative alternatives, hysterectomy is performed for uterine fibroids, pelvic pain, pelvic relaxation, heavy or abnormal menstrual bleeding, and cancer.

I'm 47, no children, and had my TAH on December 17, 2013 @4:30. Yes, I remember this date and time because I teach 8th grade US History and this TAH almost cost me my teaching job. Had a hard recovery the day of my TAH. I think about this all the time. Depressed, sucidial, no friends who understand. I take HRT (patch) and medicine for my depression and anxiety. I will see my LPC tomorow as well as my physcartist. One hour with me LPC and one hour with the other. I have been seeing my LPC for a year and nothing has helped. I have two medicines to help me sleep. I can't look at myself. I am sad, fearful, indecisive, not a whole woman, not outgoing. I work untilI wear my self out. So indecisive that I did not attend a friend of 30 years mother's funeral. I do not attend weddings, baby showers, bridal showers. I can't stand the cry of a child or seeing an expecting mother, don't walk down any aisles in a store where baby items are sold. I rather sleep all day when school is out. I have had close friends (no longer friends) to get over it, only because they have not been through what I have been through. My mind is like a remote control. I am no longer as organized as I was before the TAH. My thoughts are scattered. Nothing make me happy anymore.I don't like crowds. I do not see a light at the end of my tunnel.
