I guess I should mention that they are taking my Uterus and cervix, leaving my Ovaries.

Hi Im sorry to hear you have to have surgery my total hysterectomy with everything removed is on the 16 but honey if you hsve questions then you need to schedule an appointment with your Dr. they will see you for questions about your surgery and write down all the things you are wondering about. If your Dr is not satisfying you with their answers like if your Dr is rushing you out without explaining all the answers then maybe you nedd to find another Dr. I have heard people say oh I wish I would have known what they were going to do before I did this. When you get your answers maybe you will be more confident about the surgery. People can tell you their experiences but all people take surgeries diffrent and all Dr.s do things diffrent. Please Please call your Dr and ask ALL questions. Good Luck.

Well I know what to expect with Hysterectomy, as I know so many ppl who have had it, I'm more wondering about the rectocele and cystocele.I have talked to the Dr, but really want to know from someone who has experienced it themselves.

Hi Wendy :) I am 30 and had a hysterectomy in december - uterus and cervix, but not ovaries, like you. I had a laparoscopic/vaginal hysterectomy and stayed in the hospital overnight. I can tell you - much easier than my c-section was 5 years ago! It took me 5 weeks before I can honestly said I felt normal again, but now, 2 months later, I feel great - best thing. I also had fibroids, and had endometriosis. It is so great not to feel pain constantly anymore. Just do what your doctor says as far as lifting restraints and rest and you will be feeling better in no time - and you won't have the hormone issues women that have their ovaries removed have - I haven't noticed any difference in my hormone levels - and Thank the Lord - no more PMS!

I'm a little scared of the recovery part, only because I have a toddler, so should be interesting! I'm actually having an abdominal Hysterectomy, not the Laproscopic/vaginal. So have been told that recovery is a little longer. I guess one day at a time right!
