Hysterectomy Support Group
A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually done by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial (also called supra-cervical). Although there are conservative alternatives, hysterectomy is performed for uterine fibroids, pelvic pain, pelvic relaxation, heavy or abnormal menstrual bleeding, and cancer.
I've had all of them except prolactin. The problem with hormone levels is that its very much individual as to what levels you need to feel good. And a level that may be good for some of your symptoms (e.g., hot flashes, night sweats, sleep) may not be enough for your brain (mood and cognition) or your vagina. This is one of the fallacies of hormone "replacement." Our intact bodies did a pretty good job of giving each part the amount of hormones it needed at any particular moment!
How long have you been on HRT and how much tweaking have you had to do?
This was an interesting question you posed. You've got me curious about why you asked. Are you still there?
If you're still around maybe you can update us all.
