Hysterectomy Support Group
A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually done by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial (also called supra-cervical). Although there are conservative alternatives, hysterectomy is performed for uterine fibroids, pelvic pain, pelvic relaxation, heavy or abnormal menstrual bleeding, and cancer.
I had a TAH/BSO a little over 5 years ago. My incision was vertical and my sore area was right around the belly button. Like you I wondered if the sensations were permanent. I made the mistake of trying to cross the monkey bars way too soon & I was sore for a few weeks. After that it took almost a full year before it felt totally normal to do my Ab exercises.
I would check with your Dr. though... cause I wouldn't want to give you advice to ignore something you shouldn't.
But have it checked out for a hernia, they do happen.
