Hysterectomy Support Group

A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually done by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial (also called supra-cervical). Although there are conservative alternatives, hysterectomy is performed for uterine fibroids, pelvic pain, pelvic relaxation, heavy or abnormal menstrual bleeding, and cancer.

Well, it has been 15 days since I had a Total Hysterectomy, everything taken out : ( Not in much pain now but very itch stomach. The 26 staples have been taken out but have Steri Strips and a bandage because two small areas have not closed.

Moving around better and have to go up and down our stairs to toilet and bed. So good exercise. Only trips out have been to GP's office.

Still waiting for Biopsy report and may chase later today - I have to know.

Congratulations. I pray your tests will be fine. You seem to be doing well. I had one spot that was slow to heal too. I kind of took 2 whole months off then really felt like going to work. But first I had to find a job! LOL! Found one and have been working most of the time sense. Your life will be more settled and you won't have to worry about "accidents" happening anymore. It was life changing for me to be able to go anytime I had the chance without thinking of taking certain things with me.
I did feel little pulls and an occasional twitches in my incision area for about a year. Then it was gone. I've had 2 hernia surgeries since then so don't overdo any lifting when you do fully heal.
I still have hot flashes but you may not.
Any questions or thoughts, just ask. I'll answer if I can.

So glad to hear you are healing Sweetpea. That is great news. Give yourself time to continue to heal and get strong again. It is major surgery.

Thanks MaryTContrary and lexisgirl Good news my tumours were Benign. I prayed so hard and I now know prayers do get answered. I feel I have been reborn. I know it will take time for this old body to heal properly but am in no hurry and taking it easy and resting. I have helped my OH get dinner, as he still works full time. Take care everyone.

I am so happy for you!! Now just rest and take care. You have started a new phase in your life. One without pain and etc. Believe me, it gets better from now on. WOW!!! Thank GOD!
