Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. I hear you. I was there this weekend, I hit bottom. I think many of us here have hit bottom and just wanted to die at some point. It happens. Nothing improves, the meds don't work, our doctors don't understand anything about hypothyroid, we become despondent, depressed and want to throw in the towel.
I got thru this very crucial weekend by taking Dramamine. It almost immediately curtailed my side effects of both the meds and the titration. Some say that Benadryl works in a similar way. If you have access to xanax, that would work to but be careful, its highly addictive.
Try one of these "helpers", and write back on the forum and tell us what it did for you. You can get Dramamine at any drugstore OTC and its very inexpensive. Its worth a shot isn't it??? What do you have to lose? Give it a try and let us know.
Never give up on yourself, no one on this forum will give up on you.
Thank you all for listening!!!!
The hot flashes sounds like it could be either an adrenal problem, have you had your adrenals checked???????? or maybe a female hormone issue. Both should be addressed at this point if not already.
Keep us informed after you try one of the above meds to ease your stress.
We've all of us hit bottom...or the ceiling as the case may be!
Please trust that it WILL get better while on your meds. - at least it will be when you hit your "sweet spot" or "optimal ranges". If you stop now...you will never get better. And, when you finally realize that you need thyroid meds again...you'll have to start this process over. Precious time will be lost. Hang in there hon.
