I have had Hypo thyroid for some years now. As of today they say my TSH is 0.85 . I guess that is good. I 'm not educated on the numbers. But I feel very tired all the time, depressed, and no energy at all. Shouldn't I feel better than that?

I go to a family Dr. which I'm not sure how much they even know on this stuff. I called a special dr. but they didn't even really want to see me unless I go through the family dr etc. They work with them.

I just want to feel better. Any advice. I'm still learning about all this.
I am taking Levothyroxine 112 MCG 1 x day
Estradio 2 MG 1 x day ( had a full hysterectomy 5 years ago)
and i also have arthritis. Take lots of ibuprofen.

would love to anyone's input on this..

Find out what lab work your doctor is doing.... most family doctors only check the TSH but many people with hypothyroidism have trouble converting T4 (the storage form of the hormone) into T3 (the usable form of the hormone) so you may have plenty of T4 which is making your TSH levels look ok but you can't convet it into T3 so are still having symptoms.... your doctor should be checking your TSH, free T3 and free T4.... if your T3 is low they can add a T3 medication or you could consider converting to a product like Armour that contains T3 and T4. Also give your regular doctor a call and let him know you are having symptoms and ask for a referral to an endocrinologist...

I have arthritis too - RA. When my FT3 is low, my joints pop and crack more. I also have more muscular aches. Definitely finding out your Free Ts as DivineSilence says will help you figure out what dosage your replacement med should be. The one you take is a T4 med. The TSH does not get dosed by any meds that one takes for their thyroid health.

You did not ssay how long you have been on 112mcg of synthroid, but you must have your free t4 free t3 (very important), while you are at it when you have hypo you should also have your antibiodies, ferritin, iron and B12 tested as hypo people are usually below it. Also sign up with this group and website and tell them MAD Myra sent you. MAD is my MOTTO it means Motivated And Determined, this is where I got my education after being treated not perly for 7 months until I decided to take matters in my own hands.
