Uped my Armour

My doc just uped my Armour to 30mg from 15mg. I am hoping that this will help me. I haven't been sleeping and it's really wearing me down. I am alittle nervous that this might make it worse. If it does then we might go Armour 15mg and add some synthroid, but then I hope I don't lose anymore hair. My stomach stuff hasn't gotten any better and they can't up my elavil (I start having bad reactions to it) and they can't switch me, so I'm stuck in a hard place for now. I redo labs in 3 weeks, I am really hope this increase will help me.

I'm happy for you that your doctor upped your Armour. Your new dose is still considered small.

Unfortunately, we can have a worsening of symptoms or have new ones develop after a dose adjustment so, I will keep my fingers crossed that anything you have to deal with isn't too bad.

And, while I can understand your concerns about hair loss, it should stop once you've stabilized at your optimal levels.

Hair has thyroid hormone receptors so is very sensitive to changes in thyroid hormone levels. Well, thyroid hormone levels change every time our dose is adjusted. blech.

At this point, the most important thing is for your doctor to continue to adjust your dose until your levels are similar to the types of levels healthy people have.

While we can't rush the process, we can certainly work with the doctor to make logical dosing decisions based upon labs.

Thank you, I do have hope that someday (hopefully soon) I can get everything stabalized and move forward. I will definately post my labs.

I am confident that you will get stabilized.

You've worked to understand your disease and are being proactive with your care.

Unfortunately, dealing with thyroid disease requires a patient patient.

But, you will get there.

In the meantime, I'll be rooting for you!
