One home remedy I have used woks pretty well though its kinda gross. I use some olive oil and egg and some warm honey put it on your wet hair. Put a damp towel in the dryer for a few minutes and wrap it around your hair. Let it soak for like 15 minutes and wash your hair as normal. It really seems to work for me. Also I had a treatment at the hair cuttery that seemd to work wonders too. I think it was a deep conditioning treatment. Same concept, it just smells better :) From what I remember it wasnt too expensive, I had that and a hair cut and think it was like 30$

Thanks Jess, I remember years ago using olive oil....I totally forgot about it.....Time to give it a try......I really like the honey idea....never heard of that, but someone I know who worked with honey uses it as a salve for burns, dry skin and rashes, but never mentioned hair.

I have coarse natural curly hair, I found a fantastic product. It is not a home remedy but you get it at the beauty supply store. It is called K-PAK RECONSRUCT by Joico, it really works have been looking for years this is the best. Now my hair looks silky, and the product smells great. You don't have to use much it lasts for a very long time.

I use it once a week and leave in on for an hour, and sometimes wear a shower cap and leave it on all night. It is not cheap but its worth it!!!

I found through my stylist a product that works great the Line is called AG (its all natural) they have a leave in treatment called Fastfood its outstanding also you can find Moroccan Oil in Harmon kinda exp$ but u use very little its not greasy like Chi or Biosilk

Hello, the only thing I've found that helps is being on two medications. My medications have to be adjusted frequently; but I how have very nice soft hair. I did on occasion go to a beautician & get a deep conditioning hair treatment with minerals & stuff. It always helped.
Sounds like some good ideas have been given to you. But it is really about medication adjustment in my opinion. I go to an endocrinologist for thyroid treatment. Have a great day.

I am melado and have naturally curly dry hair. Since my diagnosis my hair that use to be nicely curled - almost spiral curls, have become a mess of coarse frizz! I have tried soooo many different conditioners and leave in treatments and nothing has helped. It has been made worse by 2 pregnancies. I am at a loss. I don't wear my hair down anymore because it looks terrible. Coloring my hair use to help, leaving my hair soft and shiney, and now all it has done is make my hair feel like straw.

I am desperate for a remedy and read about the olive oil treatment and the K-Pac product here, but no one has posted anything if after trying it it has worked for them...

Has anyone had any luck??

My daughter bought me something called "biosilk" and it has been helping me a lot. I do not use conditioner on my hair, but use a quarter sized amount of the biosilk product instead, after getting out of the shower. I apply it to my hands, rub them together to distribute the product and then work it through my hair from root to tip. My sister, who has Graves' disease as well, uses Redkin "All soft" shampoo and conditioner, and has good luck with it. Many beauty stores sell travel sizes or give samples away, so you can try it out before you commit to a large bottle. It used to be too heavy for my hair when I was well, but will see how it works on me now and will report back if it works. The biosilk used to be too heavy for my hair as well, and works very well now.

I have been pre-condiitoning with regular conditioner on dry hair BEFORE I shampoo....I put the conditioner in and let it sit in my hair for a 1/2 hour or even a few minutes before I shower and wash my hair.

Also I started using the ole' standby remedy VO5....My mother used it years ago, and I thought I'd give it a shot.....It works.....After washing my hair I apply a dime size drop thru my hair and it is working nicely so far.....It is only $4 for a tube and will last forever.
