I hate that tired all the time feeling too.I have to take naps and not push myself to hard .take breaks thruout the day.
It's good that your getting your lab results back.this way if you need an increase in needs,it can be taken care of soon.

This is the first time I'm going to say this but it won't be my last. Have you gotten a saliva cortisol test for your adrenals and have you been tested for the MTHFR gen mutation? For me, I should have had my adrenals checked before going on thyroid meds and had the MTHFR test. Ever since I've been taking FOLATE everything has changed for the better. My body is able to function. And now my adrenals are back in a healthy range, so I'm coming off hydrocortisone slowly. My thyroid dose has also decreased. My point is, you can keep taking thyroid meds and keep increasing them(I did this), but if you have an underlying condition, you're not helping yourself one bit. I don't know if this is what's going on with you, but you might need to explore other reasons why you still feel like crap. I'd love to see your blood work when you get it back. I hope you can feel better soon.

I would also add... If doctors have an odd mystique about thyroid, they are even more wimpy about cortisol. I have no idea how such a serious medical condition could be given such a lack of respect by allopathic AND alternative doctors.

I know for a fact that my cortisol levels are low and I suffer for it every day. Licorice root and grapefruit seed extract help a bit, but not enough to give me any sort of quality energy past 3:00 in the afternoon.

Not one of my doctors has the guts to put me on the correct HC drugs to jump start my adrenal glands. If I was to look for another doctor, I would have to pay for an additional round of testing - around $800! With a high deductible plan, I AM "the insurance company...." So - I am doing what I can on my own and saving up money to afford the tests.

One of the saddest things that happens is "exercise intolerance." Until this dis-ease started, I would use more intense physical activity to get me going. But now, the more I push myself, the worse the fatigue.

Hi Stevebo, I'm thinking your doc feels that dose is appropriate for the moment. So maybe there are some other things you can ask your primary care doc to do. Perhaps some blood testing for low vitamin levels, D3 is common this time of year, B-12 and B-1 are often energy drainers when they are low. Hubby is often tired this time of year and he supplements with a dose of high potency sublingual B12 drops (the under the tongue drops get into the system better than swallowing pills).
I take it as well. Hubby is 63 and I am 56. Many folks of our age need extra B vitamins because our systems can't absorb them as readily from food.
Additionally, B12 helps iron absorb more easily.

Steve have the run an RT3 test?

Ive felt .... for 10 years, I paid for the RT3 test a couple months back and it came back extremely high.

The theory is RT3 is created in times of physical or mental stress. RT3 is normal. its the brake on our thyroid but sometimes the brake gets stuck unnecessarily.

RT3 binds to the cells as its molecular structure is similar to T4/T3 and thus blocks the cells from the uptake of T4/T3.

Thats my basic broken down version of what I understand anyway. Not medical advice as Im no doctor :-). But not many doctors check for it. My doctor has never seen it before but Id suggest thats because the test isnt available in my country and is not routine. I had to send my blood overseas.

Id check how much it costs first and if money is tight like me I had to wait. Mine cost $160. Ive been off work 6 years though so have no money.
