I went to the doctor today because my PMR is flaring up again. I told him I think my thyroid is undertreated and therefore, my depression has escalated. It really started to go downhill after my thyroidectomy last May. It reached its pinnacle 3 weeks ago. I had a breakdown & spent 3 days in the "unit". I really felt like killing myself by taking a whole bottle of Hydroxyzine.
I mentioned this to him, & he said that suicide is a real threat to people with thyroid disease. There isn't an endocrinologist within 100 miles of here, so I am going to start seeing an internist. Has anyone had any experience with internists? I am trying not to get my hopes up, but I really hope she can help me.

I hope you can find a doctor who can help you. You are worth it!!
Good luck, and severe depression/suicide is a very real risk for hypothyroid patients.
Suicidal feelings are more common with hypo thyroid/adrenal issues than anyone wants to talk about.
