Hi,
Went to my tenth or eleventh endocrinologist and he actually said I go by how you feel not your labs!!!!!!! I was like FINALLY!!!!!!

I told me my frustration! I have normal t3 and t4 yet low Tsh for years now and no one can get me feeling right.

He increased my Syntroid from 125 to 137 and he said it's a wait game and if you need to add cynthroid again, we will!!!!

I love him already and I know I am on a long road to recovery! Thanks to all of you and MButterfly for the great advice! :)

Yay! So glad to hear your good news!

I've been Holiday-ing, and therefor wifi free :) Thank you all, but everyone adds -something- to this forum. I'm not so good with "empathy" (it's an analytical thing and just how I'm built), but pretty good with analysis. LOL

Ok, Well the 137 Synthroid was too much I think. I have to call my doctor. Maybe you can help me. I started to take it and after a day could not sleep, was very hot, and had chest pain. I didn't call him but went back to my old dose because I couldn't sleep for a week.

I really do believe that it's like past doctors have said, it is a conversion problem. I do need the cytomel.

I'm back on 125 synthroid and 5 cytomel and feel ok. Still gaining weight. What puzzles me is that I don't feel like that on the combo of two meds yet increasing one caused a lot of symptoms. :(

Unfortunately, we can't always trust symptoms. They come into play, but to know for sure...you need those labs done:

Free T4
Free T3

And compare them with your symptoms journal so you can tell what's up.

Just so you know it takes T4 meds about 4 weeks to get into your system, so there's that...

It's not unusual to experience "titration woes". It's something the doctors never mention, but is extremely common in hypothyroid patients. Once you go up on a dosage...you'll feel like crap until you have time to adjust to it, then you'll feel better. It's weird, but that's how it works.

Just to be sure it's nothing more serious, when you get your next labs ask for a cortisol and ACTH test.

PS For ME (and we're all individuals here) the first 2-3 weeks are the worst for titration...I dunno why, then it seems to pass. Others say the last 2-3 are the worst (in a six week span). Others say it's the middle part. If it's the ENTIRE six weeks we worry about cortisol issues. We had a member here who white knuckled every titration until he hit optimal...his symptoms were EXTREME, and his docs kept saying he was fine...turns out he had full blown addison's disease. It's rare, but it happens....
