Hi my daughter has just gone n levothyroxine, she has put on quite a bit of weight then they said her thyroid was low, but I read that armour is the better one to go on, because it contains t 3 and t4 do you know why they won't give this drug out, there has been many letter on a few sites that it is better because it is pure, and does help the weight gain, is it that expensive they won't prescribe it, I hope you get some joy soon.

There's a shortage of Armour Thyroid. Most pharmacies cannot get it.

I've heard of a vitamin that helps w/ thyroid health but I don't recall the name :/ I requested my dr. prescribe Cytomel for me and he complied. It is not covered by my insurance but it is worth it, so I pay the $55 out of pocket each month...

I recommend you do not mention weight to your doc. Do you have other major symptoms of hypo such as inability to think or concentrate? That was the only symptom my endo paid attention to. I told her that I could look at a sudoku puzzle for hours without seeing another move, but upon waking in the AM, I could see the solution right off. And I couldn't remember how to get to her office, though I'd driven myself there many times. I had a list of symptoms sticking out of my outside purse pocket so I would not forget to give it to her. She asked about it, and I had to say "Oh, I forgot it was there." Talk about no brain! She added Cytomel to my Levoxyl and I slowly began to remember things. But my case is different because I had TT.
