my doctor didn't diagnose me with hypothyroidism and told me that my birth control would treat it.
Does this make sense to anyone? I'm really confused about it and need some advice from someone who has experience with hypothyroidism.

This is the craziest thing I've ever heard. And that's saying alot!

Birth control pills do NOT treat a thyroid condition. Would this doc tell that same thing to someone with diabetes? What. An. Idiot.

In fact, people on birth control pills -can- have a T4 test read "higher" than it actually is skewing diagnosis of hypothyroidism and delaying much needed treatment.

Ugh.

Thank you for your advice! This doctor has actually moved out of state so I no longer see her. I need to make an appointment to see someone else. My mom says her doctor is really good and was awesome to her when she had her hysterectomy, so I'll make an appointment with him soon.
It just seemed really off to me that she would say that because I have been taking BC for years and have had no improvement of my symptoms other than I actually have a period most of the time now.
