Synthroid before or after blood work

Ok last question. What would the difference in labs be if u take synthroid an hour or 2 before getting Labs done? My last result showed my ft4 at 1.8 just above the range 1.77 )which for me makes me feel hyper) and I realized I took my synthroid about 2 hrs prior. So I am wondering if that could have been part of why the result was a tad higher. My best is 1.5 - 1.6 and doc won't reduce my dose and I can't figure out what else to do

Without a doubt , taking thyroid meds before a blood draw can skew levels artificially high.

While you might find FT4 1.8 to be high, I agree that your result might have been skewed that way due to your meds intake.

Before you consider reducing your dose, I'd be looking at your FT3 level as well.

Both levels need to be appropriate for us to be without symptoms.

Agreed! Literally heading to my doc now to discuss. He won't give t3 so not sure what else to do. Looking back at the last 10 years of records my ft3 had always around 2.6-2.9. Even while euthyroid "( I'll try again with him. Thank you for ur input

Sorry to hear about the fact that your doctor won't prescribe T3. Now that you've shared your FT3 level, it's clear you need it.

It sounds like you might be trying to beat a dead horse with your current doctor. Hope you consider trying a different one.

Thanks cd.. I have asked several time and gone to other endos here in jersey but none will prescribe t3. My current guys says due to my right bundle branch block it would just cause more palps . I said well the ft4 being so high does that all on it's own. So let's see what he says today! Trying again to locate yet another endo
