Just wondered if anyone had experienced any of this. Due to an episode of severely high blood pressure, I was placed on Amiodipine a week or so ago.. Blood pressure went down, but my bradycardia (slow heart beat) got worse. My cardiologist decreased the Metoprolol that I had taken for year s for tachycardia (fast/skipped heart beats) as it slows the heart beat. . He decreased it from 100 mg to 25 mg per day. I was also able to convince him to increase my levothyroxine from 25 mg to 50 mg.
Wed afternoon, it felt like all hell broke loose. My heart was pounding, and blood pressure went up and pulse lowered a bit. I felt sick to my stomach. Called dr and he said to raise the metoprolol back up to 50 mg as maybe it was decreased too much/too fast. So I did. I was feeling pretty good. Able to exercise (walk) etc.
I had quite a different experience this morning though. I took my levo first thing, as usual. Before I left to walk, I took my blood pressure med.
I started to walk, and found that I was nausea, short of breath and could not finish my walk. :( I was fine to walk previously in the week.
Could this be a side effect of the levothyroxine? As I recall, when I first started taking this med, about a year ago, I noticed no side effects at all. And I'm really rather bummed because I felt so good yesterday morning. In fact, even thought I detected a little more energy. I realize it is a journey to get this thyroid thing going in the right direction. But just wondered if perhaps these are just side effects that will eventually work themselves out? And is there anything else that I should perhaps expect? Thank you so much for your help. My original post is a few down, entitled "Increase in meds FINALLY. Any help will be so appreciated.

But I do know that different hypo symptoms will come and go as you inch your levels up to where they're supposed to be. Once you're at optimal those should go away.
I just started taking 25mg of Levo and I've noticed my hair is falling out quite a bit.

As Jess said -" you have to taper off that med". Sounds like the doc agrees.
I wouldn't pin the problems on levothyroxine increase just yet. Perhaps its the off/on again of the metoprolol?

Well, about 2 years ago I started having awful palps..the only change was the T. meds. Had an echo and Holter monitor..I have PVC's (premature ventricular heartbeat) a borderline mitral valve, and a leaky tricuspid..all ailments I didn't have before initiating T meds..
So, I do believe it's either the T. meds or the Hashi's..there again I have had Hashi's for years..the palps started after the taking of Synthroid..
I had heart palps when I was on nothing, then it flared up a bit when I first started (my very first dosage)...but tapered off as I went up in thyroid meds and my Free T4/Free T3 started to stabilize and approach the optimal level.

That combined with various thyroid meds, I'm sure, makes you feel like crap. I'm sorry you're experiencing that.
Strangely enough, I was told that I had a heart "murmur" for YEARS, but once my thyroid medication was at *optimal*...it could not longer be detected. I always thought that was strange...but what isn't with Hashi's, right?
So true what you say..with Hashi's it is a constant "what came first, the chicken or the egg?" In my case, my palps were the reason I was prompted to go to a cardio, so discovering the mitral valve, leaky valve situation..who knows just like my wonky immune system that feasts on my T. gland..I may have had these conditions for years.
Maybe the T. meds rev up the machine, (not a medical term lol) so to speak..making the shortcomings more noticeable?
Just as your "murmur" corrected itself..maybe my palps etc will just disappear one day, as quickly as they came. Even the cardiologist said the same..the ways of the heart can be very mysterious! :)
How true! Seems to be the same with Hashi's!
