YES I did have burning feet, arms, and hands at one time and still get it off and on again, it would wake me up a night. I also had a very strong pins and needles type feeling too. Are you on any thyroid meds at this time? I know you did have an allergic reaction to the medication you were taking. That can be a symptom of low thyroid and it actually can be a symtom of low Vit D. As it only started to improve when I was put on 10,000 IUs of Vit D daily.

I get the pins and needles too but only in my toes really.

I'm not on any thyroid medication now. With these last two visits to the hospital it got put on the back burner.

It could very well be your thyroid causing these symptoms, as I started getting the burning and numbness only after I was off the synthroid for a few weeks. Once I started the natural glandular I now take and vit D, it took about a three weeks or so for these particular symptoms to resolve. I, like you, was very afraid that perhaps there was another autoimmune condition involved. Of course I still do get the burning from time to time, but mainly during times of high stress. Everything seems multiplied while I'm under stress, which is more often than not lately. I hope you get some resolve soon. I know first hand how frustrating the emergency room can be, it seems I leave there more perplexed with even less answers than before I go. Luckily you have an appt with an nuero coming up, so I'm hoping you get some long awaited answers. Have you seen a rheumatologist or considered it? I did a few months back based on my symptoms and I found them to extremely thorough. They tested me for all autoimmune conditions that could possibly be tested for. Just a suggestion or other avenue you could explore if you don't get answers soon. I'm considering going back to them soon to address this breathing issue to see if it might be autoimmune related, as they were pretty much the most thorough doctor's office I have been to in a very long time.

I have thought about seeing a rheumatologist since I have such an issue with joint pain. I want to see what the neuro says first before I go knocking on another doctor's door for right now.

Definitely sounds like a nerve issue. :( sorry to hear that. hopefully the neuro can tell you something, but right now it sounds like peripheral neuropathy. I have nerve issues as well, mainly in my lower back/ butt area. I think it could be a spine issue causing the nerve issue, so that's something to check out as well. Nerve pain sucks ( that's where pain comes from lol) but I really hope you get your problems resolved or at least diagnosed and treated! please do report back

I also have been battling back/ hip issues and its just been adding to my misery. I was told in the ER about it possibly being stenosis due to the symptoms. I just worry now about how long I can work with this type of issue.

check out the symptoms for fibromyalgia. They are starting to link thyroid diseases with causing fibromyalgia.

I'm getting pain on the soles of my feet too. It's weird. I notice it most when I wake up and try to get out of bed. It's bad enough to be quite a shock. I also feel pain shooting up my achilles tendons.

That pins and needles feeling people are talking about sounds like nerve pain. A lot of medications can cause this. Oddly doctors often prescribe benzodiasepines for this, but beware, benzos CAUSE nerve damage. They do blot out the pain while you're on them, but they don't tell you that they're actually causing more damage as they do this, and then if you try to stop taking them, you unmask how much worse it is.

the pain I have now doesn't feel like nerve pain--it's more like my feel feel sore like I've walked forever on them, but I haven't.

I have ms always had burning feet before thyroid packed up . I find putting feet cold water helps me lot , avoid eating sugar as well seems make it worse

A lot of people complain of this when their thyroid levels are too low. They go to all kind of doctors, have all kinds of tests only to find out it's their thyroid.Find out what your levels, are get copies and make sure the Frees are tested, not just tsh.

Also like helerown says, get your D checked for sure.

I know this is an old post...but bransnana raised a good point. I had these symptoms for about month or so several months back. Nerve damage is exactly what it felt like, extreme burning, numbness, tingling, etc. I could hardly type or grip my steering wheel. It wasn't until I finally was able to take a natural thyroid supplement that I could tolerate that these symptoms finally finally started to subside. I too, had a multitude of tests done thinking it could be MS, lupus, etc...only to come to the conclusion that it was indeed my thyroid and low VitD because no other concrete dx could be determined. I know you had a terrible reaction to synthetic thyroid meds and said at one point you were on nothing because of all the other health issues going on, but I would suggest getting new labs done and considering trying armour to see if any of that might help. Hope you're doing better though.
