Scared to go back on meds

Almost a month ago I went into the hospital. Apparently I had some reaction to my thyroid medication. That whole incident caused me to lose basically 2 weeks of my life. And sadly, my life has sort of fallen apart due to it. I was basically forced to go back to work the day after I got out of the ER. I've not felt the same mentally, physically, etc. since. My symptoms are back to where they were prior to me being diagnosed. I'm scared to be back on meds because I don't want to have a reaction like I did the last time. I cannot afford Armour on what I make at my job, my insurance won't cover it. Even if they would, it would only be for a small amount of time. They told my mother that she would have to pay out of pocket for her MS medication if she needed it longer than a year.... smdh...

I just don't know what to do or who to turn to at this point. I'm getting the joint pains, lethargy, swelling, and everything else back again.

So sorry to hear of your struggles!

I've heard of people without insurance being able to buy Armour for anywhere from $4-12/month.

Is that something within your reach?

If so, I suggest you call local pharmacists - not only to get prices for Armour but to also get contact info for doctors that prescribe it.

I feel you on this one! I am petrified of the meds also. I also understand how you cannot afford to pay for meds out of pocket, it is a struggle. I know of a woman who actually orders her medication from Canada, although I don't know the specifics as to how that works. It could be worth checking into. Also, depending on the medication you were taking, you could have been allergic to a specific filler. For example if you were taking levo, you may not be allergic to synthroid or vice versa. How are have you been doing otherwise? I know you were having a really rough time right about the time I was. It does get better once you get on the right track. I was feeling really good for a few weeks, although good for me is probably awful for most. This past week or so I've gained a few lbs back and started losing hair again...but I do know my levels are still not in good place and moving. So I just keep plugging on.

Levothyroxine has allum, a tree pollen as a filler. I got bad allergy when tried it. I have taken levoyl mostly for 26 years.

I've been ok at best. Life is just being crappy right now.

I looked up the alpine allergy thing. I had plants from that family before and after with no issue. My reaction was anaphylatic in nature. I think it may be the yellow dye (#5) that is in it. I remembered an incident several years ago after eating a sandwich from Subway that had honey mustard on it. My lips swelled up and my tongue went numb. After that, I never ate it again.

Hi can anyone tell me, what the difference is between armour and levo, side affects, I know it's has t3 and t4 in it, but are the side affects bad. My daughter has just been put on this for low thyroid, prior to going on this she put on a lot of weight, the doc said she should now loose weight, but from what I read this does not seem to happen, any advice and info would be appreciated

Just a little update:

I may have to push my doctor's appointment up a bit. The last few days my joint pain has gotten out of control. My boss and I have just been butting heads day in and day out. I've tried explaining to her my issue, but it falls on deaf ears. I just don't know what to do anymore. It like life is spiraling out of control for me and I don't know how to even begin to fix it.

I sure hope you can start treatment soon since it does take awhile for symptoms to dissipate once levels are optimized.

I will try to. My parents are really worried about me since they know how sick I am. They see the pain on my face everyday. My mother especially is worried that my boss really doesn't care to understand what all this will entail. She seems to think that it just gets better overnight. Boy, I wish it did.

I may just have to go back to food service or something else. I have my licensing done and I have no loyality to her because she isn't even worried about investing in me as a stylist. She's only worried about herself. I just cannot stand people like that. I know I have a higher calling in this industry and just as she left the place she started at because the owner didn't want to expand his vision, I will also have to do the same.
