Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. How long have you "worn" them?
The reason I ask is that it's reasonable to "wear" levels such as yours for a few weeks after getting the results to see if symptoms start to dissipate.
We don't achieve complete symptom relief when our levels first optimize.
Our bodies need time to "realize" there are optimal amounts of thyroid hormone.....and they need to have "confidence" that those levels will be maintained.
I'd be inclined to sit tight for a few weeks and pay close attention to symptoms.
If you start to feel better, I'd wait the full 4-6 wks. for labs and decide things from there.
If your symptoms do not improve or worsen, I'd be inclined to take an extra 12.5mcg every other day.
(in other words, in addition to your Armour, I'd take 37.5mcg Levoxyl one day....50mcg the next day.. and so on)
It's very important to make very small dose adjustments when you are thisclose to optimal levels or are trying to identify your optimal levels.
Small, logical dose adjustments really work best.
Best of luck to you!
